Crafted from grass, concrete, stone, and composite steel, the structure serves as both a visual masterpiece and an acoustic marvel. Its unique design allows for the hosting of musical performances while serving as a laboratory for the talented students of the Shepherd School of Music.
At the heart of the SkySpace lies its pièce de résistance: an LED light sequence meticulously orchestrated by James Turrell himself. As day transitions into night, the Skyspace comes alive with a mesmerizing display of light and color. This carefully choreographed sequence projects onto the ceiling and through an aperture in the roof, enhancing the natural beauty of twilight.
